Well, at long last my little library is back online. The link is in the right hand menu, as is a little preview of the books in my to-read, currently reading, and recently read lists. (Correction - I’ve decided to cut it down to just the books that I’m currently reading. You can still find the rest by viewing the full library though.)
Of course, they are slightly out of date at the moment, but it’s still all good!
There are also some issues with the gallery design - I’ll be poking at these another time.
I have also stuck up a link to my photography gallery in the menu, as well as to my graphic design portfolio.
And now, I leave you with a very nifty little song…

What’s with the bizarre character escaping?
Not quite sure…
Fixed now.
I think it was a problem with the WordPress writing page. Will have to see though.
I like the library idea…I should do something like that once I get back to the land of affordable English print books. ^_^
Just a question: Why are you going into nursing when you clearly have a passion for the Arts? You write, design, photograph and program… so what on earth are you going to like about giving immunization shots to babies or changing bedpans?
Sorry —- I don’t know you, but maybe it’s better to hear it from someone who doesn’t know you. I mean, I’m totally unbiased, so it might be worth listening.
Just one artist to another.
Joanna,
This is certainly a comment I have had from a number of different people (depending on who it is, they think I should be going into Arts, or Computer Sciences - really, anything except Nursing. ^^)
And I won’t deny that I enjoy the arts - I love making posters, building website. The whole creative process. However, I don’t see it as my career. It is something I do to have fun - to relax in an evening. I know I would get caught into the cycle of never being able to leave my work at work if I went down that path.
However, the main reason is that this is what I really want to do. Helping people. I am really enjoying studying nursing, and talking to people who are RNs, learning what they do - I am really excited to become one.
Now, you give the examples of Nursing being all about giving immunization shots to babies, and changing bedpans. Sorry to say, but you couldn’t be further from the truth of what nursing is about.
Yes, that is a part of it - but really, only a number of nurses work in an environment like that. I’m not quite sure where exactly I’m going to be taking this, but something like a cardiac rehab centre could be an amazing and rewarding career (I’m actually in the process of scheduling a time for me to go and help out, and actually get to meet the people!)
This actually ties in with some of my classes that I’m taking - where we are talking as a group, defining heath, health care, nursing, and what we do - and why where are here. The truth is that there is no easy answer - there isn’t one event that I can say “that made me want to become a nurse”. Instead, it is a whole collection of experiences that have brought me to where I am.
Arts, and computers, are a lot of fun and I’ll never stop playing around with them. However, I’ve chosen not to make them my career - instead, I’ve chosen to become a nurse.
